Learn a bit about us!
Windy City Women Riders, NFP, is a non profit women's
riding club whose mission is to foster a bond of sisterhood among women
motorcyclists.
We welcome women of all levels of experience, brands of
motorcycles, age sexual orientation and life experiences to join us.
We meet the second Wednesday of the month at
the Sauganash Restaurant,
4732 W. Peterson Ave.
Our meetings start at 7:00 and we usually arrive beginning at 6:30 to order
food.
Windy City Women Riders host 3 events annually. The Polar Bear ride held Jan
1st of each year, the No Boyz Ride, a opportunity for women to gather, ride
and celebrate the uniqueness of a woman's only event, and Trina's Ride, our
bi annual benefit ride.
We participate in all types of rides and try to have a wide variety of
adventures in our ride calendar each year. The majority of our rides are
open to members and guests (both male and female are welcome) however we do
have occasional members only and women only rides. When asked to
describe WCWR, Caryl wrote,When I found WCWR, I found a
community. A neighborhood. A home. A place where there
were women like me, even though our differences outweighed our
commonalities. A place where I could be accepted for me. A
place where I could look over and see that the women riding next to me
"got it." Was feeling the same joy that I was in being free on the
road.
I think what makes WCWR so special is that we are all so different.
Different ages, different stages of our lives, different lifestyles,
different income levels, professional levels, different types of bikes yet
we all share the love of motorcycle riding and sharing that love with other
women is an incredible bonding experience.
I love riding. I need to stress that. I LOVE riding. I
love riding by myself, I love riding with my man, I love riding with a group
of men, riding with a group of men and women but there is something very
special about being on the road with my WCWR sisters that never fails to
lift the stress of everyday life right off of my shoulders and sends it
soaring into the wind to leave me happy, relaxed and loving life.
When I'm on the road and I look forward and see Sheri leading the pack in
her eminently capable and calm manner and I glance in my rear view mirror
and see Tori back there watching us all to make sure we're all safe, and the
sun is shining and the wind is blowing and the asphalt is rolling under my
tires I get so happy that I just have to stand up and let it all out.
It's just pure joy being one with the road, one with my club.
